City Rock is a popular remote deep-sea rock fishing location, with a discrete rock climbing crag featuring 20-odd climbs ranging from Grade 16 up to 24.

The rock is named after a ship that sank after striking ashore in foggy conditions in 1862. It was the first of several shipwrecks near the Green Cape area, which have collectively contributed to the broader surrounding area name of ‘Disaster Bay’.

The walking trail itself was severely damaged in the 2019/20 fires and suffered major drainage issues, causing bog and erosion as well as fallen, burnt timber and debris along the entire 750m route.

In 2021, Creative Lines was able to assist NPWS by refreshing the immediate entrance, reinstating the vegetation stability along the corridor, applying a course aggregate bedding to the trail tread and refreshing the timber box steps and creek crossing.
